Hidden Springs is an attractive planned community just 15 minutes northeast of Boise. It was incorporated at the dawn of the new millennium and features attractive homes with up-to-date amenities. Hidden Springs covers 1844 acres in the Dry Creek Valley, has about 2800 residents, and has its own elementary school and library. It also includes an open conservation area of 810 acres, which is to be left largely undeveloped. Home Association members in Hidden Springs can take advantage of two community swimming pools, as well as a clubhouse and fitness center.
Like other communities near the Boise River, Hidden Springs enjoys a relatively dry climate. However, the risk of flooding is very real. Hidden Springs is located in the Boise foothills, making it especially vulnerable to flash floods as snow and ice melt, and sometimes jam the Boise River. As recently as 2017, there were major floods in much of Idaho because of heavy snow and melting. Hidden Springs is close to Seamans Gulch, which can overflow. Other types of incidents, like a water main break, can also cause serious damage. Even within your own home, broken pipes or hot water heaters can leave you with a considerable mess.
